How to deal with equinox 900?

There are several steps to deal with the equinox 900:

• Assemble the Detector

  Connect the lower shaft to the middle shaft by aligning the holes and inserting the spring clip. Attach the middle shaft to the upper shaft, again aligning the holes and inserting the spring clip. Mount the search coil onto the lower shaft, ensuring the washers are in place and then fasten the coil bolt securely. Wind the search coil cable around the shafts, leaving some slack near the coil to allow for movement, then connect the cable to the control pod.

• Power On and Adjust Settings

  Press and hold the power button until the equinox 900 turns on. Adjust the volume by pressing the Volume Up (+) or Volume Down (-) buttons. Choose your preferred detecting mode by pressing the Detect Mode button and cycling through the options (Park, Field, Beach, Gold). Set the frequency by pressing the Frequency button and selecting your desired frequency (Multi, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 40 kHz).

• Ground Balance

  Press and hold the Ground Balance button while pumping the search coil up and down from the ground (about 1-2 inches) until you hear a steady tone. Release the Ground Balance button when the tone is steady.

• Adjust Sensitivity in equinox 900

  Press the Settings button to access the Sensitivity setting. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to increase or decrease sensitivity based on your detecting environment.

• Set Discrimination and Target Tones

  Press the Settings button to access the Discrimination setting. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to adjust the level of discrimination. Press the Settings button again to access the Target Tones setting. Use the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to adjust the number of target tones based on your preference.

• Start Detecting with equinox 900

  Hold the equinox 900 with the search coil parallel to the ground and begin swinging it in a side-to-side motion, keeping it at a constant height above the ground. Listen for target tones and watch the target ID on the display. A higher-pitched tone and higher target ID number indicate a more valuable target, while a lower-pitched tone and lower target ID number indicate a less valuable target or trash.

• Pinpoint and Dig

  When you locate a target, press and hold the Pinpoint button. Move the search coil in a cross pattern (left-right and front-back) over the target area to narrow down its location. Release the Pinpoint button when the audio signal is strongest, indicating the center of the target. Use a digging tool to carefully extract the target from the ground, ensuring not to damage any potential finds.
